Acrobats set to perform at Fowler Center Downloadable Image The Peking Acrobats will perform at Fowler Center, located at 201 Olympic Drive, at Arkansas State University on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. To the accompaniment a Chinese orchestra, performers leap through hoops, balance eight people on one unicycle, create pyramids 15-feet tall and juggle fire. Since 1952 this 26-member group of acrobats have been touring the world. Hailing from the People’s Republic of China, the Peking Acrobats have been diplomats of their spirited culture for decades, according to a spokesperson for the group. This elite group of gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers has left audiences around the world spellbound by the graceful athleticism of their ancient folk art. The acrobats transform 2,000-year old traditions of agility and grace into modern-day kaleidoscope of entertainment and wonder. Admission prices for adults are $28 and $18; for students, $24 and $15. Tickets are available at the Central Ticket Office, located in the Convocation Center, 972-2781, or online at tickets.astate.edu. The next program in the Fowler Center Series will be the Glenn Miller Orchestra, on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. For more information contact Jerome Biebesheimer, director of Fowler Center, 870-910-8115, or write to fowlercenter@astate.edu. # # # |
