Retiring
faculty members cited at Convocation of Scholars ceremony Nine faculty members who are retiring this academic year were recognized today during the annual Faculty Honors Convocation for their longtime service to Arkansas State University. Each of the nine has taught at ASU for 10 years or more, and therefore were named to emeritus status in recognition of their contributions. An individual tribute to each of the retirees was presented, highlighting their accomplishments and contributions to the university. They also received a certificate of emeritus status. Those recognized and their lengths of service at ASU were: --James Cathey, instructor in radio-television in the Department of Radio-Television, 17 years. --Bonnie Deuter, assistant professor of nursing in the Department of Nursing, 30 years. --Gary Leibrock, instructor in physical education in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences, 27 years. --Evan Lindquist, professor of art in the Department of Art, 40 years. --Dr. Richard McGhee, professor of English and interim dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, 12 years. --Dr. Paul Nave, professor of chemistry and chair in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, 34 years. --Dr. Mildred Vance, professor of education in the Department of Teacher Education, 54 years. --Dr. Carl Vaupel, professor of education in the Department of Teacher Education, 31 years. --Patricia Lawson Welch, instructor in health education in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences, 25 years. # # # |
