Lecture~Concert Series and Music
Dept. to present Kathy Kosins

In a joint presentation with the Arkansas State University Lecture-Concert Series, the Department of Music will present vocalistKathy Kosins, to perform at Arkansas State University Kathy Kosins in concert with the Tribe jazz band at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 31, in the Fowler Center's Riceland Hall, 201 Olympic Dr.

Kosins is a jazz vocalist, jazz composer and jazz educator. She stands out among her peers by possessing a rare combination: a richly nuanced voice, technical proficiency, eclectic repertoire, and prodigious talent as a composer. Audiences respond immediately to her music. Directly focused and expressive, with a tinge of soul around the edges, she is a strong performer who delivers a song in smashing fashion.

The Tribe is under the direction of Ed Alexander, director of bands. Musical selections for the Tribe will include The Old Man of the Mountain, How'M I Doin', Goin' to Chicago, I Caught a Touch of Your Love, and I Just Found Out About Love. Selections to be performed by the ASU Jazz Combo are These Boots Were Made for Walkin, arranged by Doug Stone, No Ordinary Joe, arranged by Paul Keller, I Can't Change You, by J. Franzel and Kathy Kosins, and A. Lange, and Livin in Style by Paul Libman.

Members of the Tribe are Jonathan Rohner of Jonesboro, and Amy Dunivan, of Jonesboro, alto saxophone; Damian Sanchez of Miami, Fla., and Drew Breckinridge of Newport, tenor saxophone; Shane Hill of Halls, Tenn., baritone saxophone; Joe Deaton of Jonesboro, Sherri Fincher of Jonesboro, Grant Garland of Corning, Sara Garland of Corning, and Will Hartsell of Forrest City, trumpet; Lanny Heidbreder of Corning, Matt Strawbridge of Jonesboro, Daniel Harrelson of Jonesboro, and Corey Spencer of Wynne, trombone; David Butler of Jonesboro, piano; Max Rand of Paragould, guitar; Ben White of Jonesboro, drums; and Corey Emerson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., bass.
