Economic Outlook Conference at  Convocation Center, Thursday, Nov. 6

The annual Economic Outlook Conference will be held at the Convocation Center on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro Thursday, Nov. 6. 

Sponsors for the event are: Regions Bank, the ASU College of Business, and the McAdams-Frierson Chair of Bank Management. 

A program highlight is the return of Dr. David Wyss, chief economist at Standard and Poor's DRI. Wyss testifies on a regular basis before the U.S. Congress, and has appeared on many major television programs, including: Wall Street Week, the Jim Lehrer News Hour, Today, and Nightline.  He also is a regular news source for NPR's All Things Considered. Wyss is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed his Ph.D in economics at Harvard University.

Speakers for the Economic Outlook Conference will also include: Dr. John Shelnutt, the state's expert economic forecaster; Jim Thompson of RiceTec; Mark Duckworth of Optus, Inc.; and Jim Blankenship of Colson-Caster. 

Conference speakers will discuss agriculture, technology and manufacturing trends in northeast Arkansas. The conference concludes with a luncheon. Kenny Hall, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Arkansas State Chamber and Associated Industries of Arkansas, will provide insight on legislative issues in the state. The conference registration will be 8:30 - 12 noon.  Luncheon registration is required. The conference cost is $60 per person.
