4th Annual Delta Tourism
Awards given by the Arkansas Delta Byways The fourth annual Delta Awards recognizing tourism achievement in Eastern Arkansas were presented Friday evening, Oct. 3, at the Forrest City Civic Center. The awards were sponsored by Arkansas Delta Byways, the nonprofit association recognized by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism as the official tourism promotion association for 15 counties in Eastern Arkansas. Counties include Arkansas, Chicot, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Lee, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett and St. Francis. Arkansas Delta Byways is located on the Arkansas State University campus and receives administrative support through Arkansas State University’s Delta Heritage Initiatives Office. Recipients included: * Media Support Award: Matt Fite, Editor, Arkansas Advertiser, Crittenden County. * Hospitality Award: City of Lake Village, Chicot County. * Entrepreneur Award: Double Band Duck Club, Poinsett County. * Tourism Support Award: Preservation Of African-American Cemeteries, Inc., Helena, Phillips County. * Festival/Event of The Year: Louisiana Purchase Celebrations at Marianna (Lee County) and Brinkley (Monroe County). * Boot Strap Award: The Bible Museum of DeWitt, Arkansas County. * Promotional Award: Thunder on the Byways Motorcycle Event, Arkansas Delta Byway Counties. * Outstanding Member Award: Naomi Mitchell, St. Charles, Arkansas County. * Cultural Heritage Award: Parkin Archeological State Park, Cross County. * Tourism Person of The Year: Gretchen Sacotnik, Paragould, Greene County. # # # |
