President Bill Clinton to give first
address in Liberty Bank Distinguished Lecture Series The Liberty Bank Distinguished Lecture Series will be inaugurated this fall at Arkansas State University with an address by former U.S. President Bill Clinton, announced ASU President Les Wyatt. President Clinton will present the lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 12:45 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center on the ASU-Jonesboro campus. Wallace Fowler, chairman and CEO of Liberty Bank, said the annual lecture series will provide an excellent means for Liberty Bank to enhance the educational experience for Arkansas State University students through this and future lectures by business, industrial, educational and governmental leaders. Mr. Clinton visited ASU in June to discuss the prospect for such a series with Fowler and Dr. Wyatt, and to tour Fowler Center. Fowler also serves on the ASU Foundation Board. "Arkansas State University will be honored to host a visit by President Clinton," Dr. Wyatt commented. "He is recognized as an authority on many of the most complex issues facing our world and our society. The lecture will be a wonderful opportunity for our students." While in office, President Clinton was on campus April 3, 1995, to give the dedicatory address for the expanded and re-modeled Dean B. Ellis Library. He also visited ASU many times in his capacities as governor of Arkansas and as attorney general. A majority of the seating in Riceland Hall will be designated for ASU students; visiting high schools students will be seated in the theatre and watch the speech by closed circuit television. Tickets for the remaining seats will be available to the general public through a random selection process. Tickets are free, but everyone attending must have a ticket. To be added to the list of those wanting to obtain tickets, interested persons should call 870-910-8154 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, or Tuesday, Oct. 14. Callers may request a maximum of two tickets each. # # # |
