President Clinton will visit ASU's Fowler Center late today Former President Bill Clinton will visit Jonesboro later today. Among his planned activities, he will tour the Fowler Center on the Arkansas State University campus with ASU President Les Wyatt. The purpose and details of his visit to Jonesboro and ASU have not been announced. The tour is not a public event, although news media personnel will be provided access at Fowler Center for photographing his arrival. Fowler Center, named in honor of benefactors Wallace and Jama Fowler of Jonesboro, is becoming known throughout the Mid-South as a hub for civic, fine arts and community functions. Public areas include the Grand Hall, where receptions and dinners are often held; Riceland Hall, a 975-seat concert hall; a 342-seat theatre; the Bradbury Gallery; and related support spaces and classrooms. The facility's grand opening was in January of 2001. President Clinton made his last public visit to Jonesboro on April 3, 1995, when he was guest speaker for the dedication of an addition to the Dean B. Ellis Library. As governor of Arkansas, and earlier as attorney general of Arkansas, he made numerous visits to the campus. # # # |
