State University announces 2002 Summer Children’s Theatre The Arkansas State University Department of Theatre will open the 2002 Summer Children’s Theatre with "The Gingerbread Man" on Tuesday, June 18. The play will run through Friday, June 21, with daily performances at 10 a.m., and an evening performance Friday at 7:30. "This well-known, smart-talking cookie leaps off the pages and onto the stage in this action packed, fun-filled production," a theatre spokesman said. "Full of silly characters, funny puns and slapstick comedy, it guarantees to leave the audience laughing and delighted." The second production of the summer season will be Hans Christian Anderson’s heart warming tale of "The Ugly Duckling." Performances will run at 10 a.m. daily from Tuesday, July 23, through Friday, July 26. An evening performance will be Friday at 7:30. This familiar tale emphasizes that real beauty comes from within, and teaches a lesson while entertaining at the same time. Music, audience participation, and lots of fun and laughter are promised. The ASU Summer Children’s Theatre productions are presented in the Drama Theater at Fowler Center, located at 201 Olympic Drive. Tickets, which go on sale May 1, may be purchased at the Central Ticket Office located in the Convocation Center or by calling 870-972-2781. All seats are reserved and cost $3.50 each.
