Groundbreaking
set at ASU for St. Bernards and ASU Partnership Arkansas State University and St. Bernards HealthCare together will host a groundbreaking Saturday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m. for construction already underway of a healthcare facility that will be located at 333 Stadium Boulevard on the ASU campus. The new building, which will be located just southeast of Indian Stadium, will include a new Student Health Center. The building will also include a First Care Family Medical Clinic and an Outpatient Sports Therapy and Physical Therapy facility that will be operated by St. Bernards HealthCare. The university’s portion of the clinic will be 3,900 square feet, approximately the same size as the existing clinic located on Caraway Road, according to Dr. Rick Stripling, vice chancellor for student affairs. St. Bernards’ portion of the clinic will be approximately 10,000 square feet, 4,000 of which will provide state of the art sports medicine and physical therapy services. First Care – Stadium Boulevard will occupy the additional 6,000 square feet. First Care – Stadium Boulevard will be the fourth First Care location in Jonesboro providing convenient, quality healthcare to patients of all ages. "St. Bernards is very pleased to partner with Arkansas State University to provide additional healthcare capabilities on the campus for the convenience of students, faculty and staff of ASU as well as for the convenience of patients who reside in the rapidly growing area of our community," Ben E. Owens, president of St. Bernards HealthCare, said. The contractor for the project is B. B. Vance and Sons, Inc., and the building’s design was completed by Jeff Steiling, of Stacks and Steiling Architects. Construction is expected to last six to nine months, with the new facility opening next fall. "This will be a great new facility for our students," Stripling said. "This new clinic will be especially accessible to our commuter student population and we’re excited about all of the possibilities." # # # |
