Department of Theatre to
present ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’


The second presentation in the Arkansas State University Department of Theatre’s spring season will be "Star-Crossed Lovers," a collection of scenes and monologues from Shakespeare’s "Romeo and Juliet." Performances will be March 13, 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the experimental theater at Fowler Center.

Students from the Acting Shakespeare class make up the cast, which includes Jeff Hamm of Cabot as Romeo and Abram; Jamie Bosanko of El Dorado as Mercutio; Michael Miles as the Prince, Friar Lawrence, and chorus, Brandi Jones as Benvolio, and Sheridan Essman as Lady Capulet, all of Jonesboro; Jason Henson of Lexa as Gregory; Linda Parlier of North Little Rock as Juliet and Balthasar; Summer Hyde of Paragould as Samson; Jeff Sharp of Kennett, Mo., as Tybalt; and Hisako Nagashima of Tokyo, Japan, as the Nurse.

The text for "Star-Crossed Lovers" was adapted by Joe Falocco, assistant professor of theatre, and the production’s director. Jason Henson serves as the company fight captain, and the design team includes Hisako Nagashima, set design; Donna Meester, costume design; and Bob Simpson, lighting design.

This presentation is suitable for family entertainment. Performances will be approximately fifty minutes in length. There will be no intermission. Latecomers will not be seated.
