University 2002 set for Saturday at Arkansas State University Arkansas State University faculty and staff are getting back to the basics this weekend as they welcome more than 150 young Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and their troop leaders to campus for Scout University. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will work with faculty and staff on various badge requirements, allowing them to complete possibly two badges by the end of Saturday’s events. Sessions will be offered during the morning and afternoon, providing a diverse selection from which the young people may choose from. Session topics include graphic communication/graphic arts; audio-visual production/cinematography; electricity; lifesaving; animal science; horsemanship; plant science; environmental science; women’s health; leatherwork; computers; geology; insect study; and soil and water conservation. Following a full day of activities, the Scouts will attend a tailgate party and then join festivities inside Indian Stadium as they watch the Indians take on Tennessee-Martin. More than 600 Scouts and troop leaders are expected for the game and tailgate, which is being sponsored by Clear Channel Communications. As an added bonus, troops have the option of camping out Friday and/or Saturday night at the ASU Equine Center. # # # |
