Small Business Development Center
offers Exporting Workshop

The Arkansas State University Small Business Development Center and Global Marketing Support Services will offer a small business workshop entitled "Getting Started in International Trade" on Tuesday, Aug. 14, in Jonesboro.

"In 1997, 97% of U.S. companies that exported were small businesses. This percentage continues to grow dramatically as technology and globalization advance," says Herb Lawrence, SBDC director. "Participating in international trade requires an export strategy that includes thorough research and planning. This workshop is designed for any business owner considering international trade."

Topics to be covered include assessing export potential, researching the market, developing an export strategy, understanding the rules of trade, and export financing.

The workshop will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the ASU Center for Economic Development located at 5501 Krueger Drive in the Jonesboro Industrial Park. The cost of the workshop is $30. The event is co-sponsored by the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, Arkansas Capital Corp., and East Arkansas Planning & Development District.
