ASU Orchestra concert set for
Thursday, Oct. 24, in Riceland Hall


The Arkansas State University Department of Music will present a fall Orchestra concert, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, in Fowler Center’s Riceland Hall, 201 Olympic Drive. Dr. Neale Bartee, professor of music, is the conductor.

The program will include "Outdoor Adventure" by Aaron Copland; Symphony No. 2 "Romantic" by Howard Hanson; "Flying" by Reynard Burns, winner of the 2001 ASTA/NSOA Composition Contest; "Egmont Overture" by Ludwig van Beethoven; Symphony No. 9 "New World" by Antonin Dvorak; and "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modeste Moussorgsky.

The personnel for the ASU Orchestra are Rebecca Markowski, Bill Keisker and Emily Meeker, all of Jonesboro, Jenny Pham of Maple Grove, Minn., Audra Edgin of Leachville, and Judy Pyle of Cherokee Village, first violin; Ann Swaty, Samantha Street, Linda Jorgensen, Samantha Meeker and Stephanie Duckworth, all of Jonesboro, and Roby Johnson of East Prairie, Mo., second violin; Paul Markowski and Marcia Burns, both of Jonesboro, Melissa Edwards of Pine Bluff, and Murray Therrell of Paragould, viola; Elaine Bartee of Jonesboro, cello; John Hays of Jonesboro, Tom Mason of Manila, and Drue Armstrong of North Little Rock, bass;

Candice Harison of Bryant and Lydia Fitzgerald of Jonesboro, flute; Denise Seal of Bryant, piccolo; Miguel Picanco and Marie Porter, both of Jonesboro, oboe; Amy Dunivan of Jonesboro, English horn; Tonya Butcher of Batesville and Staci Stewart of Prescott, clarinet; Meghan Mitchell of Paragould and Alyssa Johnson of Bryant, bassoon; Nick Balu of Romania, Greg Osbourne of Newport, Kendra Sanheaver of North Little Rock, Adele Weiss of Batesville, and Annett Porter of Jonesboro, French horn;

Sherri Fincher of Paragould, Tom Akin and Jonathan Monroe, both of Jonesboro, trumpet; Lanny Heidbreder of Corning, Daniel Harrelson of Warren, and Peter Bazzano of Germantown, Tenn., trombone; David Robinson of Newport, piano; Jessica Vick of Jonesboro, Billy Allen of Wynne, Nathan Sheffield of Mountain Pine, and Christ Knight of Sherwood, timpani/percussion.
