Orchestra
concert set for Thursday, April 25, at Fowler Center The Arkansas State University Department of Music will present the Orchestra in concert, Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m., in Riceland Hall at Fowler Center, located at 201 Olympic Drive. The program will consist of "March and Procession of Bacchus" from the Ballet "Sylvia," by Leo Delibes, arranged by Merle Isaac; "Suite for Two Horns and Strings" by Georg Philipp Telemann; "Carmen Suite No. 1" by Georges Bizet; "The Music for the Royal Fireworks Overture" by George Frideric Handel; "Symphony No. 8" by Ludwig van Beethoven; "Palladio" by Karl Jenkins; and "Symphony No. 2" by Alexander Borodine. Students Ion Balu and Nick Balu will perform as soloists. Personnel for the ensemble include Concertmaster Rebecca Markowski, Jenny Pham, Bill Keisker, Audra Edgin, Sharon Davison and Emily Meeker, first violin; Ann Swaty, Samantha Street, Roby Johnson, Nicole Pugh, Linda Jorgernsen and Samantha Meeker, second violin; Paul Markowski and Melanie McPherson, viola; Elaine Bartee, Meghan Matthews and Jonathan Kirkscey, cello; John Hays and Tom Mason, bass; Sandy Risi, Marian Peeler and Damien Sanchez, flute/ piccolo; Leigh Ann Woodard, Miguel Picanco and Damien Sanchez, oboe; Miguel Picanco, English horn; Tonya Butcher and Kathleen Rougeau, clarinet; Mike Scott and Meghan Hollis, bassoon; Nick Balu, Jim Marvell, Ion Balu, Caycee Hennan, horn; Richard Cooper, Grant Harbison, Tom Akin and Jonathan Monroe, trumpet; Lanny Heidbreder, Daniel Harrelson and Celia King, trombone; Justin Lowe, tuba; Ben Runnels, Jimmy Bushong and Corey Emerson, timpani/ percussion; and Danling Gao, piano.
