NETmobile to host ribbon cutting at Jonesboro Public Library The Arkansas State University Delta Center for Economic Development will host a ribbon-cutting for the computer on wheels, NETmobile, Friday, Nov. 8, at noon at the Jonesboro Public Library, 315 West Oak Avenue. NETmobile is a wireless mobile van that travels as a business reference, resource center. This mobile unit is designed to provide information, business development support and opportunities to communities and towns located throughout the Arkansas Delta. The mission of NETmobile is to assist businesses and educational institutions in the Arkansas Delta by providing Internet access and local, statewide, national, and international information resources. Traveling among 41 counties in Eastern Arkansas to deliver information technology, the NETmobile is designed to display how technology can be used to promote educational and economic development to a variety of communities. "This demonstration project is a unique opportunity for business and communities in Arkansas' Delta. We look forward to working with communities and businesses providing these services," said Ramona Clower, NETmobile coordinator. NETmoible is funded through a two-year grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA). Partners for the project include EDA, Arkansas State University Delta Center for Economic Development, Arkansas State Library, Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST) and Arkansas Science and Technology Authority (ASTA). # # # |
