School Model UN competition set at ASU for Oct. 11 The Arkansas State University Model United Nations will host a competition for area high school students Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12 in the ASU Museum and Dean B. Ellis Library. The meet will begin Friday at 5 p.m. with an opening session in Museum room 182. Three committees will meet simultaneously, including the premier committee, The Security Council, which will hold its sessions in Board Room on the 8th floor of the library. High school "ambassadors" representing different countries will debate real world issues from the perspective of their assigned country, with the meetings chaired and organized by members of the ASU Model United Nations Organization. Senior and Secretary General Beth Ephlin of Luxora said that high schools could still apply for country assignments and participate by contacting her or the groups faculty advisor, Dr. Charles Hartwig, 870-972-3048 or beth_ephlin@hotmail.com. All sessions will be open to the public as well. # # # |
