6, 2001 Museum to host ‘Living Off the Land’ exhibit The Arkansas State University Museum will open "Living Off the Land: Vintage Agriculture Implements" on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The exhibition is in the main gallery. The exhibition includes numerous implements that were commonly used on the farm at one time. The exhibition is a preview of the agriculture portion of "Living Off the Land" that will be installed as a permanent exhibition. Late 19th century and early 20th century farm equipment will be shown along with photographs of early farming practices. Plows, cultivators, a hay rake and grain drill that were pulled by mules or horses will all be on exhibit. Among the smaller implements on exhibit will be a corn sheller, a cattle dehorner, hay knives and scythes, a hay press and more. Over the years numerous people have donated the implements and objects that are included in the exhibition. "Living Off the Land: Vintage Agriculture Implements" will be on exhibition through March 31, 2002. The public is invited to the reception and the exhibition. Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. # # # |
