Kerri Turner will present
faculty piano recital April 28

The Arkansas State University Department of Music will present a solo faculty recital by pianist Kerri Turner Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall, located on Caraway Road.

She will perform the works of J. S. Bach, Ferruccio Busoni, W.A. Mozart, Fryderyk Chopin and Bela Bartok.

Turner is in her fourth year as instructor of music at ASU, where she has taught courses in piano for music and non-music majors, including music fundamentals, applied piano, and music appreciation. In addition to her duties at ASU, she maintains a private piano studio for pre-college age students and serves as accompanist at First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.

Turner began her collegiate music studies at the University of North Texas and transferred to Texas A&M Kingsville where she received her bachelors in music, magna cum laude. She earned her master of music in piano performance at ASU under Dr. J.D. Kelly, with whom she continues to study piano.

The Texas native is active as a member of Music Teachers National Association, has served as treasurer for the Arkansas State Music Teacher’s Association, and region chairperson for the ASMTA piano festival. In June, she will present a lecture on "Creative Teaching Ideas" at the ASMTA Convention at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The free concert is open to the public. For more information contact the Department of Music, 870-972-2094.
