ASU Jazz Band Concert
to be Tuesday, February 5
The Arkansas State University Department of Music will present the
Tribe jazz band in concert Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m., in the
Fowler Center’s Riceland Hall.
The Tribe is under the direction of Ed Alexander, interim director of
bands.
Musical selections for this concert will include "Filthy McNasty"
by Horace Silver, arranged by John LaBarbera; "Seven Steps to
Heaven" by Miles Davis, arranged by Tom O’Connor; "High
Impact" by Robert Woods; "Opus One" by Sy Oliver,
arranged by John Fedchock; "Lover Man" by Jimmy Davis and
Roger Ramirez, arranged by Jerry Nowak; and "Confusion" by
Lennie Hiehaus.
Members of the Tribe are Laurie Kinder of Salem and David Robinson of
Newport, alto saxophone; Damian Sanchez of Miami and Jonathan Rohner
of Bono, tenor saxophone; Shane Hill of Halls, Tenn., baritone
saxophone; Joe Deaton of Kiser, Grant Garland of Heber Springs, Angela
Sutherland of Piggott, and Lori Shepard of Jonesboro, trumpet.
Others are Daniel Harrelson of Warren, Landon Heidbreder of Corning,
Corey Spencer of Wynne, and Matt Strawbridge of Jonesboro, trombone;
Elizabeth Sullivan of Sherwood, piano; Corey Emerson of Poplar Bluff,
Mo., bass; Ben White of Jonesboro, drums; and Vic Swain of Paragould,
guitar.
