Symphony Orchestra will perform at Fowler Center Downloadable Image The Hungarian Symphony Orchestra will perform at Fowler Center, located at 201 Olympic Drive, at Arkansas State University on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The 50-member ensemble is under the direction of Maestro Philippe de Chalendar and was founded in 1811. The group will present a program featuring Rossini, Mendelssohn and a Chopin piano concerto with the internationally known pianist Veronique Bonnecase. The orchestra has toured extensively throughout Europe, including Germany, Switzerland and festivals in France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The musicians have also toured the United Kingdom with the Opera Italiana di Milano. Bonnecase received her early musical education at the Conservatoire National de Region de Bordeaux, and later joined the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris. Apart from her work as a pianist, she is founder of the International Piano Competition of Arcachon. Admission prices for adults are $24 and $19; for students, $15 and $12. Tickets are available at the Central Ticket Office, located in the Convocation Center, 972-2781, or online at tickets.astate.edu.
