Arkansas State University is preparing to welcome alumni back to campus for Homecoming 2002, "A-State Fair."

Events on campus during the week of Oct. 14- 19, such as a Carnival Day, variety show competition, a step show, barbeque competition and the annual pep rally and bon fire, will precede events for alumni beginning on Friday, Oct. 18.

The Alumni Association and various colleges at ASU will host special events such as open houses, class reunions, receptions and banquets at various locations across campus. Four reunions are being hosted by the Alumni Association including track, 50-year class and Golden Anniversary Plus, which is for alumni during the years of 1928 through 1951.

Tailgate parties will begin at 3 p.m. west of Indian Stadium, and tailgating groups are welcome to begin even earlier at their group’s convenience.

Kickoff for the ASU Indians vs. North Texas Homecoming game is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Indian Stadium. Pre-game ceremonies begin at 5:40 at the stadium.

Distinguished Alumni will receive their awards and ASU Homecoming royalty will be recognized at halftime.

The Fifth Quarter Party will begin at 8:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Holidome in Jonesboro. "Moment II Moment" will provide entertainment for the party, which will be hosted by alumni from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter Homecoming Dance is from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the 501 Club and Restaurant in Jonesboro.

The public is encouraged to attend Homecoming and show support for the ASU Indians.
