Museum to present ‘Get’n On Up There’
exhibition of video interviews

The Arkansas State University Museum opens a new exhibition, "Get’n On Up There," Sunday, Oct. 13, with a reception from 1:30 to 4 p.m. This exhibition is the result of video interviews with older people in the region. Ten interviews were conducted with 11 people ranging in age from 77 to 100.

"Get’n On Up There" is an exhibition about people, not things. Usually at the museum history is interpreted through objects, photographs and books. This exhibition is different because the staff used the life experiences of people to interpret some regional history.

People interviewed were:
Orus Crafton, age 88, from Cash; Anne Levitt, age 88, from Jonesboro; Larry Sloan, age 88, from Walnut Ridge; Birnether Pointer, age 83, from Marianna; Julia Jackson, age 98, from Paragould; Josephine King, age 100, from Piggott; Mimie Brown, age 89, from Trumann; Leeanna Sullivan, age 98, from Jonesboro; Marie and Ralph Sharp, ages 77 and 82, from Jonesboro; and Everett Bolton, age 85, from Jonesboro.

There will be a short program at 2 p.m. to introduce the participants. At 2:30 there will be a video preview of excerpts of each interview. The public is invited to attend.

"Get’n On Up There"
will be on exhibit at the ASU Museum through January 12, 2003.

Admission to the museum is free and the public is welcome. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information call the museum at (870) 972-2074.
