Center to present Russian State Chorus Oct. 21 Downloadable Image The Arkansas State University Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, will host the Russian State Chorus as part of their 2002-03 series on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall. For more than 50 years, the Russian State Chorus has been recognized as one of the world’s leading choral ensembles. Best known for performances of the Russian classical repertoire and familiar Russian folk songs, this group was founded in 1936 by Alexander Sveshnikov and is currently under the direction of Igor Raevski. The choir, which has 45 members, has been touring widely since 1945. The group has also presented a number of notable world premieres, including works by Schedrin, Shostakovich and Prokofiev. Admission for the Russian State Chorus is $24 for adults and $19 for students; or $15 for adults and $12 for students, depending on the seat location. Tickets may be purchased from the ASU Central Box Office, located at the Convocation Center, 870-972-2781, or online at www.tickets.astate.edu.
