Making its debut in 1935, the Count Basie Orchestra has entertained audiences all over the world with its all-American Big Band sound. The ensemble now includes 19 performers who continue to advance the "American institution" of swing. Some members are new, however, the majority of musicians were picked by Count Basie himself. Admission for the Count Basie Orchestra is $25 for adults and $18 for students; or $20 for adults and $16 for students, depending on the seat location. Tickets may be purchased from the ASU Central Box Office, located at the Convocation Center, 870-972-2781. The next program in the Fowler Center Series will be the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra on Monday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. For more information contact Jerome Biebesheimer, director of Fowler Center, 870-910-8115. # # # |
