28, 2001 Electronic Music Recital set for Wednesday, April 11 The Arkansas State University Department of Music will present an Electronic Music Recital on Wednesday, April 11, at 5 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall, located on Caraway Road. The recital is under the direction of assistant professor or music Dr. Timothy Crist. The concert will include music by the following student composers: Nicole Carroll of Bryant; Erik Johansen and Chris Cheadle, both of Jonesboro; Justin Patterson of Lepanto; and Matt Cureton of Arbyrd, Mo. The diverse works created in the electronic music studio involving digital synthesis, sequencing, digital audio editing, and video. The concert will include a piece by Edgard Varese, "Poeme Electronique" composed in the late 1950s. Varese was a pioneer in the world of electronic music and "Poeme Electronique" is one of the most important and influential works in electronic music literature.
