to participate in Delta Regional Summit set for Thursday, April 4, in Tunica The Delta Health Education Partnership (DHEP) will host the third Delta Regional Summit, "Promotion of Healthcare Access in Delta Communities," in Tunica, Miss., on Thursday, April 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is to provide a community-based educational program for primary health care providers within the lower Mississippi Delta region. Topics to be discussed at the Summit include new financial and business aspects of primary health care practice; current challenges to practicing medicine in the Delta; mechanisms of partnering with communities to develop educational benefits; opportunities to improve the quality of medical practice in the Delta; and strategies to increase access to health education and health care in the Delta. Participating partners for this program are Arkansas State University; the University of Tennessee at Memphis; Delta State University; Alcorn State University; Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center; Frontier School of Midwifery; Arkansas Department of Health; Louisiana Office of Rural Health; and the Tennessee Department of Health. The conference has been approved for eight contact hours by the Arkansas Nurses Association, which is accredited for continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
