Oct. 22, 2001 Ticket sales at Convocation Center to be consolidated in Central Box Office Everyone who purchases tickets as they arrive for events in the Arkansas State University Convocation Center will want to know about improvements and changes, the university announced today. Tim Dean, director of the ASU Convocation Center, said the changes will result in faster service for those purchasing tickets as they arrive to attend major events at the center. In the past, the satellite ticket windows at each of the primary entrances to the Convocation Center were open for major events such as craft fairs, sports shows, and athletic contests. Sometimes the waiting lines became quite long, especially for non-university events for which there is no advance sale. Under the new system, guests may purchase tickets at the Central Box Office windows at the lower red entrance to the building. The office will operate up to three windows simultaneously and utilize the computerized ticket system, which will speed the purchase process significantly. "Most importantly, we feel this move will be one that makes the ticket purchase a much more pleasant experience for our patrons," Dean said. "Moving the sales to a central location will better address the overall needs of the customers." By utilizing the Central Box Office, tickets will be available at multiple windows, as opposed to selling one ticket at a time at the satellite windows. The result should be much faster service. Signs at each satellite ticket booth around the building will re-direct ticket buyers who are not aware of the change to the Central Box Office. The one exception will be for men’s basketball games, when the green entrance ticket window will still operate in conjunction with the "will call" entrance. The change affects only the ticket procedures, not access. For major events, ticket holders may continue to enter through any of the four colored entrances. "Not only will ticket sales will be faster through the Central Box Office," Dean added, "other issues which may arise can be addressed more quickly through the main computer system." # # # |
