ASU awards 875 diplomas
at Spring Commencement Ceremony

Arkansas State University in Jonesboro awarded 875 diplomas on Friday, May 11, during the Spring Commencement Ceremony in the Convocation Center. The guest speaker was alumnus Harold E. Crye, chief executive officer of Crye-Leike Realtors.  Dr. Les Wyatt, president of ASU, presented the various diplomas.

Included in the total
were two doctoral, 16 specialist’s, 92 master's, 676 bachelor's and 89 associate's degrees. The class included 745 graduates from 58 Arkansas counties, 54 graduates from Missouri, 58 from 17 other states, and 23 from 13 other countries.

During the ceremony, 122 seniors were recognized for outstanding academic achievement.

A total of 20 students received special recognition for their achievements in the Honors Program. Eleven graduated In University Honors (UH) for having completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of Honors courses and a thesis in the major area. Nine graduated In Honors (H) for having completed a minimum of 18 credit hours of Honors courses.

Nine students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, 48 students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a grade point average from 3.80 to 3.99, and 63 students graduated Cum Laude with a grade point from 3.60 to 3.79.

The degrees conferred were: Doctorate in Educational Leadership (EDD);
Specialist in: Community College Teaching (SCT) and Education (EDS);
Master of: Arts (MA), Business Administration (MBA), Communicative Disorders (MCDS), Public Administration (MPA), Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC), Science (MS), Science in Agriculture (MSA), Science in Mass Communication (MSC), Science in Education (MSE), and Science in Nursing (MSN);
Bachelor of: Arts (BA), Science in Engineering (BEN); Fine Arts (BFA), General Studies (BGS), Music (BM), Music Education (BME), Science (BS), Science in Agriculture (BSA), Science in Education (BSE), Science in Nursing (BSN); and Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS).
Associate in: Applied Science (AAS), Applied Science in Nursing (AASN), General Studies (AGS), and Science (AS).
