Career Services staff celebrates continued success Dr. Neal Vickers, director of the Career Services Center, is once again all smiles about helping Arkansas State University graduates find rewarding careers after commencement. He and his staff have recently been polling graduates of the 2001-2002 class. With only 50 percent of the class contacted, already the results are very positive. Of the 50 percent polled, 85 percent of ASU graduates said they used the Career Services Center. Ninety-seven percent of the 85 percent indicated they felt the center was helpful; and 97 percent of the entire graduating class is employed. This good news coming on the heels of other very impressive benchmarks of the ASU Career Services Center. In 1996 and 2001 Vickers and his staff received the Innovative Programs and Practices award from the American Association for Employment in Education (AACE). Arkansas State University is the only institution in the United States to receive the award twice. The group was also recognized in the 2001 edition of Kaplan/Newsweek’s College Catalog for having one of the best career services programs in the country. ASU was the only school in Arkansas to receive this honor from high school guidance counselors.
