15, 2001 College of Business recognizes faculty excellence The Arkansas State University College of Business has initiated three awards to recognize outstanding contributions of its faculty. The awards are designed to recognize excellence in teaching, research and professional service, according to Dr. Jan Duggar, dean of the college. Only full-time instructors and tenured/tenure-track faculty are eligible for the awards. Faculty may nominate themselves, their colleagues or be nominated by their respective department chairs. Faculty must submit documentation of outstanding contributions and performance as specified by a set of criteria for each award to be considered for the award. The award recipients are selected by members of the college’s Executive Committee and are chosen for each category based upon the performance of the faculty member relative to the criteria. First time recipients include Dr. Daniel Marburger, professor of economics, who received the Excellence in Teaching Award; Dr. Kim Hester, associate professor of management, who received the excellence in research award; and Becky Carr, instructor of accounting, who received the excellence in professional service award. Each recipient was presented with a recognition plaque and a medallion, and will receive $500 in reimbursable expenses for on-going faculty development. |
