ASU College of Business achieves re-accreditation
of undergraduate and graduate programs

The College of Business at Arkansas State University has achieved reaffirmation of accreditation of its undergraduate and master’s degree programs in business.

The decision was confirmed by the board of directors of AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

"I cannot emphasize enough the significance of this decision by the AACSB board of directors," commented Dr. Jan Duggar, dean of the ASU College of Business. "Re-accreditation signals to students, faculty and alumni that we are operating a top quality business program at ASU. Everyone involved in this achievement should take great pride in helping see the College of Business reach this significant milestone."

During the review process, a team of business school deans who are leaders in the field of management education visited and evaluated the ASU College of Business, applying AACSB International accreditation standards.

The peer review team report commended the ASU College of Business in five particular areas:

Faculty members who clearly have student learning as top priority; the Delta Center for Economic Development which is effectively serving ASU in regional development activities; support from the regional business community; the ASU Career Services Center which assists students; and faculty members’ involvement in the reaffirmation process.

"Reaffirmation was a team effort, and the faculty and staff are to be congratulated and thanked for their efforts and support," Duggar added. "We also are deeply indebted to the business community for their partnerships and involvement."

The announcement from AACSB comes at a good time for the College of Business, which is in the planning stages for a new building to house its programs.

Internationally, AACSB has 411 accredited member institutions, of which 387 are in the United States. Currently, 156 institutions also have achieved specialized accounting accreditation.

To achieve AACSB International accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirement, library and computer facilities, financial resources, and intellectual climate that all are mission-linked.

AACSB International is a not-for-profit organization consisting of more than 800 educational organizations and corporations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management. Its mission is to provide global leadership in advancing management

education through accreditation and by fostering international interchanges, key business linkages, sharing of best practice, and professional development.

AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency and service organization for business schools and has its headquarters in St. Louis.
