Fowler Center will host
the River City Brass Band

Fowler Center at Arkansas State University will present the River City Brass Band in concert Tuesday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m.

The performance is part of Fowler Center’s series of professional presentations.

The River City Brass Band is the leading concert band in the United States today, acclaimed nationally and abroad for its superb performances of a wide variety of musical styles and repertoire, according to a Fowler Center spokesman.

In its relatively short history, the band has become an important player on the musical scene, "setting toes to tapping and audiences to smiling" throughout the nation. Comprised of 28 professional musicians, the 2000/2001 season marks the band’s 19th year of entertaining audiences.

The group can produce the full, rich sonorities of a symphony orchestra, the delicate, intimate sounds of a chamber ensemble, the top-tapping brilliance of a military band, and the swinging rhythms of a big band.

Their repertoire ranges from classical and opera to familiar favorites from the Broadway stage, the silver screen, the big band era, folk traditions and more.

All tickets for the concert in Riceland Hall are for reserved seating. Admission is $23 and $30 ($19 and $25 for students). The Central Box Office telephone is 870-972-ASU1 (2781).

The next presentation in the series will be the Glenn Miller Orchestra, on Tuesday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for that concert are $13 and $18 ($10 and $14 for students).
