ASU Ringers to perform
Christmas concert in Riceland Hall

The Arkansas State University Ringers will present a Christmas concert in Riceland Hall at Fowler Center Monday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. The choir, directed by Dr. M. Ellis Julien, will be ringing four and a half octaves of Schulmerich handbells and three octaves of Malmark handchimes.

Established in 1985, the ASU Ringers is a small ensemble open to members of the student body as well as to members of the faculty and the community. Although most of the students are music majors, several other academic majors are also represented.

During the past eight years, the Ringers have toured Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas. This fall, in addition to a concert at Holy Angels Convent in Jonesboro, the ensemble will present concerts in Jacksonville, Little Rock, Magnolia and Searcy.

The program will consist of "A Child is Born in Bethlehem," arranged by Robert Batastini; "We gather Together," the traditional Thanksgiving melody, arranged by David Angerman; "Savior of the Nations, Come," and "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly," both arranged by Cathy Moklebust; "Noel Nouvelet," and "That Christmas Night," both arranged by Agnes French; "A la Nanita Nana," arranged by Patricia Sanders; "Gloria," arranged by Frances Callahan; "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," arranged by Cynthia Dobrinski; and "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers," arranged by Martha Lynn Thompson.

Members of the choir include Keith Westbrook of Benton, Dr. Steve Corder of Walnut Ridge, Chris France, Ashley Tidwell, Carly Goreman and Celia King, all of Little Rock, Rusty Shields of Paragould, Staci Stewart of Prescott, Dr. David Gilmore of Jonesboro, Nic Shepperd of Doniphan, Mo., and Daryol Edwards of St. Louis, Mo.
