Delta Economics and Tourism
are focus of latest ‘Arkansas Review’

"Economics & Tourism in the Delta" provides the focus for the April 2001 issue of Arkansas Review.

Published three times per year by the Department of English and Philosophy at Arkansas State University, the periodical covers the seven-state Mississippi River Delta from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The lead article for the April issue, written by ASU economics professor Gary Latanich, deals with economic problems in the Delta as well as some possible solutions.

Other articles, which continue the emphasis on Delta economics, examine the campaign for casino gambling in Missouri, the lodging industry in Memphis, the National Park Service's work in studying Delta heritage, and the career of Al Bell, a businessman and activist from Little Rock.

In addition to Latanich, other ASU faculty and students who contributed material to the April issue of Arkansas Review are Larry D. Ball, C. Calvin Smith, and Guy Lancaster, who wrote articles on Delta sources and resources; and book reviewers Michael B. Dougan, Sarah Wilkerson-Freeman, Kent W. Staley, Janelle Collins, Richard Allen Burns, and Brady Banta.

Burns and Lancaster also contributed photographs to the issue.

Subscriptions to Arkansas Review are $20; single issues cost $7.50. Checks should be made payable to ASU Foundation with Arkansas Review on the memo line. Address all correspondence to Arkansas Review, PO Box 1890, State University, AR 72467; or call 870-972-3043.
