Distinguished Medieval History
scholar to present lecture at ASU

Dr. Alfred Andrea, professor emeritus at the University of Vermont and distinguished scholar-in-residence at the University of Louisville, will present a guest lecture Monday,

His presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Health, Physical Education, and Sports Sciences Complex (HPESS), room 245, located on Marshall Drive.

Andrea’s topic will be "The Silk Road: 4000 Miles and 1500 Years of History," followed by a discussion session. The event is free and open to the public.

Andrea earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in medieval history. During his career he authored several books including "The Medieval Record," "The Human Record, Vol. 1" and "Contemporary Sources for the Fourth Crusade."

Andrea is currently writing an encyclopedia of the crusades for Greenwood Press, and he is a member of the World History Association Executive Council. 

Professor Andrea is being brought to ASU through support given of the honor society of Phi Alpha Theta; the Lecture-Concert Series; and the Middle East Studies Committee.
