13, 2001 Arkansas State University Homecoming activities set for Sept. 21-22 "A Timeless Tradition: Under Construction and Still Growing" is the Arkansas State University Homecoming theme for 2001. Homecoming activities for alumni will take place on campus Friday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Sept. 22. The Alumni Association and various colleges and groups at ASU will host special events such as open houses, class reunions, receptions, drop-ins and banquets at various locations across campus. Six reunions are scheduled, including Strong-Turner, the Lettermen’s Club and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. The Alumni Association will host the 50-year and 40-year class reunions, as well as the Golden Anniversary Plus reunion, which is for alumni from the years of 1928 through 1950. Student activities will take place on campus during the week of Sept. 17-22. Events and activities include a Harvest Carnival for the community, a search for Clyde’s moccasins, a barbeque competition, a comedy show and a step show. Tailgate parties will begin at 4 p.m. west of Indian Stadium, and tailgating groups are welcome to begin even earlier at their group’s convenience. Kickoff for the ASU Indians vs. Jacksonville State Homecoming game is set for 6 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Indian Stadium. Pre-game ceremonies will begin at the stadium at 5:40 p.m. Distinguished Alumni will receive their awards and ASU Homecoming royalty will be recognized at halftime. The 5th Quarter Party will begin at 8:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Holidome in Jonesboro. Entertainment will be provided by the Michael Ethridge Band, and alumni from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s will host the event. The Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter will host a Homecoming Dance at the Park Place Inn, located on Caraway Road, from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend ASU Homecoming and show support for the ASU Indians.
