19, 2001 Department of Music presents the Chamber Singers and Concert Choir The Arkansas State University Department of Music will present a choral concert Monday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall at Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, featuring the Chamber Singers and Concert Choir. Dr. Dale Miller, department chair and director of the choral program, will conduct both ensembles. The Chamber Singers’ program includes three madrigals entitled "Flora Gave Me Fairest Flowers"; "Sa io to vedessa una sol"; and "The Silver Swan." The group will also present a set of Mozart pieces accompanied by the ASU Clarinet Trio which includes "Ecco, quel fiero istante" and "Piu non si trovano." "Shouts of Joy," an original composition by alumna Julie Gardner Bray, will be performed by the Chamber Singers, and will feature Dr. Dan Ross on oboe. The Concert Choir will perform a variety of works including "Hosanna to the Son of David"; "Si, Cha io vorrei moirA"; "Verleiha uns Frieden"; "O Clap Your Hands" from John Leavitt’s "Requiem"; "The Cloths of Heaven"; and an arrangement of "The Star Spangled Banner" by Dr. Lloyd Pfautsch. The music medley will be a time to honor victims of the recent tragedy in New York and Washington. The accompanist for both ensembles is Ellen Philpot, a graduate student majoring in organ performance. For more information please contact the Department of Music at 870-972-2094.
