ASU Theatre announces
its 2007-2008 season schedule

Aug. 22, 2007 --
The Arkansas State University Theatre has released the schedule for the 2007-2008 ASU Theatre season. The season will open with “Wait Until Dark” by Frederick Knott. A Broadway hit, this claustrophobic suspense thriller plays upon everyone’s worst fear of being alone in the dark with a maniacal killer. Performance dates for “Wait Until Dark” are Friday-Saturday, Sept. 28-29, and Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 2-3. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door.

The next show in the season is “Beautiful Bodies” by Laura Shaine Cunningham. The play takes place in Manhattan as six best friends rush to attend a celebration. Tonight's the night of nights, as the girls gather to rejoice in one’s new lover, to leave one’s unfaithful husband, or to decide to have a baby on one's own. These "six in the city" professional women fight for their female choices. Sparks and zingers fly as love lives, secrets, and friendships go up in candle flames. Performances dates for “Beautiful Bodies” are Friday-Saturday, Nov. 9-10, and Tuesday-Wednesday, Nov. 13-14. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door.

Coming up in 2008 is “Proof” by David Auburn. Winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, “Proof” combines elements of mystery and surprise with old-fashioned storytelling to provide a compelling evening of theatre. “Proof’ is a smart and compassionate play about ideas,” said the New York Daily News. “Proof” tells the story of a young woman who is determined to solve the mystery of her father, a mathematical genius. Performance dates for “Proof” are Friday-Satuday, Feb. 15-16, and Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb.19-20. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door.

The final show of the 2007-2008 season is “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” by Betsy Kelso, with music and lyrics by David Kehls. A new show about agoraphobia, adultery, 80's nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, and disco, it's everything a musical should be. Performance dates for “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” are Friday-Saturday, April 18-19, and Tuesday-Wednesday, April 22-23. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $12 at the door.

All seating is reserved. Tickets should be purchased in advance at the ASU Central Box Office in the Convocation Center by calling 972-ASU1, or by purchasing online at http://tickets.astate.edu. Reservations are highly recommended.
