Small Business and Technology Development Center offers seminars

Oct. 29, 2008 -- The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) of Arkansas State University will host a pair of seminars Tuesday, Nov. 4, concerning new service ideas and products as well as securing business financing. The two kick off a full slate of business-related workshops in November. These workshops will offer informative and affordable training for small business owners throughout Northeast Arkansas.

“Launching New Products and Services” is offered from 9 a.m.-noon at the ASU Technical Center, 5504 Krueger Drive, in Jonesboro. In addition, “Business Financing Options” is scheduled the same day from 6-9 p.m., at Ozarka College in Ash Flat.

John Riggins, owner of the Riggins Group, is the guest speaker at “Launching New Products and Services.” Registration is $35, and the seminar is co-sponsored by East Arkansas Planning and Development, Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Riggins Group.

Statistics show that over 80 percent of new product launches fail. This seminar helps business owners improve chances for success through common sense ideas.

The “Business Financing Options” seminar in Ash Flat is presented by Herb Lawrence, director of the ASU SBTDC. Lawrence will explain methods of obtaining financing for prospective and existing businesses. Credit requirements, places to go for funding, and the Small Business Administration’s loan guaranty program will be discussed.

Registration is $35. Ozarka College and Spring River Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring the event.
