$100,000 Helene Fuld Health Trust

The Department of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University has received a $100,000 one-year grant from the Helene Fuld Health Trust to assist economically disadvantaged and minority students attend the nursing program.

The grant will aid students in the licensed practical nurse-associate of applied science in nursing program or master of science in nursing program, according to Dr. Tom Kippenbrock, chair of the Department of Nursing.

Monies from the grant will be used for school related expenses, such as tuition, fees, housing, school related travel and books. Kippenbrock noted that the grant will "enable students to be enrolled full time and to reduce student debt."

Students who meet strict criteria such as academic achievement, economic need, and willingness to practice in Arkansas, will be considered for the award. The College of Nursing and Health Professions Scholarship and Award Committee will evaluate all applicants. Only full-time students will be considered to receive the grant.
